Argh this was me for about 7 years from 2011 to 2018. Only when I started taking medication for ADHD, I started sleeping much better. Now I’m sleeping even better whilst taking antidepressants. Those days are behind me. Believe it can happen! I really hope you’re able to find a solution, it’s the number one thing before all else.
I totally agree. Sadly, I’ve tried many things over the years, meditation, magnets, herbal tea, lavender, booze, OTC meds, prescribed meds, you name it. Never found the cure yet.
Chronic insomnia sucks balls 😣🖤
Interesting quote! I’ve never heard it. I’m open-minded to that possibility, I guess, yet still, my experience still makes me believe in the principle of being able to overcome whatever it is.
Steal as much as you want! I have endless quantities lol.
I just asked because for a while I was drinking decaffeinated coffee only, and drinking as much as I wanted, and also not worrying about which times of day. But then I noticed I was sleeping terribly again on the days I had a lot of it, or late in the day.
I researched it and both decaffeinated coffee and tea contain about 10% of the caffeine of normal coffee/tea. Which is easily enough to cause sleep disturbance, especially if you happen to be more sensitive to caffeine. I eventually realised I had to ban it altogether, which did significantly help in my case.
Anyways, I’m going to try going to bed and do some reading.
Last Q: what about alcohol? I found that also had a huge effect on sleep for me, plus a significant effect from what/when I eat. A lot of small things really add up together, although I class caffeine/alcohol as big ones. Time of eating, and sugar intake also big effects.
You’re right, all these things play a part for sure.
With regards to alcohol I’m much more of a binge drinker nowadays (as reflected in some of my poetry 😉) and even that’s not something I do too often so alcohol isn’t really a huge issue for me sleep wise.
I think it really is just the fact I’m am an overthinker and my brain just doesn’t care about slowing down the cogs just because its dark outside.
Ach, it’ll get better. My sleep has always come in peaks and troughs – I’m just feeling a bit sorry for myself from the depths of this particular trough.
I hope you manage to do some reading to counteract the effects of the coffee and get some sleep soon.
Don’t be surprised to wake and find I’ve stolen some of that optimism too!!
Yeah, totally get the overthinking part. Just try and do as much right as possible, healthy living etc, and keep looking for any patterns between sleeping well and not. There are so many factors–– self-esteem plays a huge part for me. Good luck, I really hope you are able to make progress with it. 💙
Haha, take as much optimism as you want! Mine is still only growing each day so no worries at all. Well, not in global issues of course. Just don’t take any of that kind of optimism!
(I’m only not sleeping now because I had to have a coffee this evening to get me through an event I got spontaneously invited to by a friend, after I did happen to sleep badly last night for other reasons.)!
Ah, I guess that adds a complication! But… I hung out with my female friend again this evening, and she wears no make-up! She is blessed with half-french high cheekbones, though.
Why is it that what you can’t have only gets more sexy/funny each time you see them? I do feel her heart is moving towards me, felt it again today. There’s just a complicating situation with an ex. Decisions time 🙂
Oh Hell Yeah!!! Do this on the daily! 🤔🙄🤪

Ouch…that’s terrible. Do you drink caffeine usually?

Not for a long time now.
I’ve never drank coffee (I’m not a fan of the smell) and I drink decaf tea.
Puts me in mind of that great quote from Iris Murdoch:
‘There is a gulf fixed between those who can sleep and those who cannot. It is one of the greatest divisions of the human race.’
Reckon I’m just one of those unlucky enough to be in the second category 🤔🙄🖤

How much decaf tea do you drink?

I admire your optimism – I’ll try and steal some 😊
I usually have maybe 3-4 cups a day at work, then don’t tend to drink hot drinks after 6pm…🖤

Ugh, impromptu gatherings are nearly as bad as insomnia! Glad the coffee seemed to help! 😳🖤

Oooft!! Sounds complicated indeed.
All I can say is check out the ‘Loving’ category on my blog. I am certainly not the one to come to for advice on that! 🤔😂
Still, I hope it works out the way you want it to! 🤞🖤

Well, to be honest, the way I want it to work out is maximum happiness for her. Which I believe is with me… but that’s not up to me 😉
