Totally agree! I’ve never understood spending so much money on weddings 🤷♂️. A cousin got married last year, and they did it really economically. I was sensing not-total commitment from her new husband, though 😆. My intuition tends to be accurate, let’s see.
I don’t even understand the need to be married (apart from for legal/logistical nonsense), which I think is nonsense. Why would you want to introduce a load of bureaucratic crap into a relationship? 🤷♂️. Even the damned word requires a google search to spell it every time. I can understand getting married in a long-distance relationship between countries, though, as a way of getting to be together. Haha weddings feel like social try-harding 🤣. Rant over!

“Till death to us part” also sounds like a sentiment that could backfire— if you end up in a bad marriage. Like your only way out of it is death 😆. How grim.

Met and married within a year, all said far too soon, won’t last, she must be pregnant, all the usual bollocks, he says looking back, 45 years married and still counting, and to the same woman too!

I love how bleak your poems often are. They are so dark and yet so poignant and true. This one made me laugh.

Thank you so much!
I often think bleak and dark is the only thing I can do, so I’m glad there is a little humour to be found in there somewhere! 😁🖤
