Regraded

I think I was once preoccupied

With being considered a ‘proper poet’

But I’ve since come to realise

That my style doesn’t trivialise

Life or how I choose to show it

Bottom Of The Class

I
scroll
through
your words

And
realise
mine don’t
compare

For
you all
write so
beautifully

Whereas
I splurge
without
a care

  1. Poems don’t have to be written eloquently to be good. You write from the heart, absolutely nothing wrong with the style you chose. I find it a lot harder to express what I feel when writing in a strict form where you have to be aware of rhyme or syllables or patterns.

  2. You’ve got rhythm and rhyme, feeling and flow, wit and wisdom… but you do curse a bit, so… I guess you are right. You are an improper poet. 😁 But really, if you have to be Shakespeare to be a poet than what are Emily Dickinson or Maya Angelou, Ogden Nash, and so many others? You, Charmer, are a proper poet.

  3. I don’t know what a proper poet means…all I know is that I enjoy your poems…you’ve a unique style…there’s depth, wisdom, humour, experiences, realizations, love…they’re raw & come from your core…see, how your poem made me & others to react 😊💫
