Still Standing

I haven’t

Really done much

In my forty six years

On Earth

There’s nothing of note

To really show off

That has any value

Or worth

But one thing

I am proud of

If you can excuse

My indulgence

Is I’ve survived the days

When, deep in a haze,

I really thought

I fucking wouldn’t

Thoughts #8

Every time I look

Into your eyes

My love for you

I cannot hide

You’ll never know

How I burst inside

To know we are part

Of the same pride

‘Scotsmen are said to be clannish folk. This may be because many a Scotsman never truly leaves his home. His home is always in his heart.’

For Our Own Good

You never
see the
worst of
my illness
because
I hide it
from you

For you
to know
the truth
about me
would just
tear me
in two

So I’ll
paint
on a
smile and
pretend
that I’m
fine

For
doing so
protects
both
your
sanity
and mine

School of Anatomy

He was everything to me for such a long time.

I loved him like I’ll never love anyone ever again.

But then he died.

Now he is your silent teacher.

And I’m so proud of him.
